Study
Will resume on Wednesday evening at 7PM after Lent.
The Lord's Supper is a sign and seal of communing with our Lord, and remembering what Jesus has done for us by his death and resurrection. Bay Road's practice is giving parents the discretion of deciding when it's appropriate for their children to participate. This Sunday there is a forum for parents and young children about communion, its meaning, and place in our worship. We will meet during the Sunday School hour in the nursery space with Pastor Chris and Teanna Fullen.
Ash Wednesday
The
season of Lent begins with a service of worship, repentance, and proclamation of
our own mortality in light of God's eternal plan. In biblical times, ashes were
used to signify sorrow and repentance. This year Ash Wednesday is February
22nd. Join us for a simple meal of soup and bread and 6pm. Our Ash Wednesday
service begins at 7pm.
The Season of
Lent
Lent is a season of preparation, contemplation, repentance, and
spiritual discipline to join Jesus on his wilderness journey from the cross to
resurrection. We observe Lent the forty days from Ash Wednesday to Easter (we
don't count Sundays as part of Lent). By observing Lent, we imitate Jesus
withdrawing to the desert in preparation for ministry. We use the royal color
purple to signify preparing the way for our King. This year we will be
celebrating the Lord's Supper each Sunday during Lent. More information will be
coming about how we are going to observe this season together.
